How to get there

Car

Costa da Caparica is easily accessible by car after taking the A2 highway from the center of Lisbon in a southerly direction and, after crossing the bridge, turn right at the first exit and follow the IC 20 to Costa da Caparica, which is just 20 minutes from the city center.

Bus:

If you don’t have a car, you can get to the surfing beaches by public transport. Lines 3709 depart from Marquês do Pombal and 3710 depart from Sete Rios and take you directly from the center of Lisbon to Costa da Caparica, with a few stops along the way.

Train:

Take the train to Sete Rios, cross the Tagus Bridge and get off at Pragal in 11 minutes. The train takes 17 minutes from Roma-Areeiro station, on Avenida Roma, and just 8 minutes from Campolide.

Once in Pragal, south of Lisbon, there is a direct bus to Costa da Caparica.

The total journey time varies between 40 and 1 hour, depending on the departure station.

Boat:

There are two options available:

• From Cais do Sodré to Cacilhas Departures from Cais do Sodré are regular during the week. In 10 minutes, there’s a boat. On weekends and public holidays, there are approximately three trips per hour in each direction (check the timetable).
• From Cacilhas to Costa da Caparica 3011 – Cacilhas – Costa da Caparica (34 minutes)
• From Belém to Trafaria On weekdays, there is approximately one departure per hour from Belém (check the timetable). On this ferry, you can come with your car or motorcycle.
• From Trafaria to Costa da Caparica 3030 – Monte da Caparica (FCT) – Fonte da Telha (15 minutes to Costa da Caparica and 30 minutes to Fonte da Telha)
